Using the same settings on my camera, I continue to use different backgrounds and poses for my third series. I started editing my pictures to recreate the floating, supernatural mood.  I also had to adjust the exposure and shutter speed for different environments. One of the challenges was to choose the right image since I have a lot of similar photos in the same setting. My goal for the next series is to emulate Hayashi's styles more and try more poses.

For the second series, I was trying to set up a "stage" for myself so I can be more easily recognizable in the photos. I also try out different backgrounds and poses to explore different emotions/ tones. I had to edit some of my pictures because the exposure was too low, which is probably why some of the images have a less ideal quality. I hope I will be able to emulate more of Hayashi's styles and poses for my third series. I am also considering including some cool backgrounds! I also need to work on my facial expression and posture as well.

Fall Series 1: Today's Levitation

For my Fall Series, I want to photograph levitating pictures inspired by Natsumi Hayashi. She achieves her levitations by "floating" effortlessly and naturally in Tokyo's everyday scenes. When I began shooting, I realize that it is very difficult to have a natural pose and expression. Sometimes, my poses show a jumping posture instead of a floating one. I hope that I will be able to find some exciting, bright, and cheerful backgrounds (as Hayashi has done) when I create my next series. I had to manually adjust the exposure and shutter (either 1/2500 or 1/3200) for each scene to ensure that the pictures are not too blurry or dark. In this post, I asked my mom and friends to press the camera button. For my upcoming series, I hope that I will be able to emulate the levitating tones and emotions, as Hayashi has done.

This week's assignment is a series of portraits, inspired by the artist Avedon. My attempt is to show the model's expressions through their eyes and facial expression. To do so, I asked them series of questions, such as "imagine yourself at the beach... the breeze, the ocean, the sound of the waves...", to provoke and capture their natural expression in these pictures.
